חואקין סורולה (Joaquín Sorolla) היה צייר ספרדי ידוע מתקופת האימפרסיוניזם המאוחר, שהתפרסם בעיקר בזכות ציוריו המלאים באור וצבע המציגים את חופי ולנסיה ואת חיי היום-יום בספרד. סורולה נודע באהבתו לציור בחוץ וביכולת שלו לתפוס את האור הטבעי, במיוחד את אור השמש, באופן מרהיב ומדויק.

פלטת הצבעים שלו הייתה בהירה וקלילה, ועבודתו התאפיינה בגוונים רכים של כחול, לבן, ורוד וזהב, שהקנו לציוריו תחושת חום ואווירה קיצית. הוא השתמש במכחול רחב ובטכניקת מריחה נועזת וזורמת, דבר שהדגיש את התחושה החיה והמרקם בציוריו.
