Inspired by my recent trip to beautiful Sicily, the coins depicted in the print represent ancient coins from the island of Ortygia, which was part of the city of Syracuse in Sicily. In Greek times, Sicily was an important cultural and economic center, and Syracuse was one of the most prosperous cities in the region, which allowed it to issue its own unique coins.
